Grounding Techniques

I know for me, it is so easy to get wrapped up in my thoughts, get swept away by worries, and feel like my head is up in the clouds. This was definitely a stressful week where I wasn’t feeling too grounded. When I say grounded, I mean being present and being connected to the earth; being able to feel centered and in touch with myself… being able to stay in touch with myself and at peace despite the chaos going on around me.

Staying grounded is hard, especially when a lot of the world is not. I wanted to share some things that I do to help me get grounded and connected back to myself + the earth.

*Eat grounding foods. Foods that grow beneath the surface of the earth: potatoes, carrots, squash, beets.

*Drink warm drinks like warm water with lemon or tea.

Miracle Tree - Organic Moringa Superfood Tea, 25 Individually Sealed Tea Bags, Apple & Cinnamon - Miracle Tree - 1.

I’ve been loving this Miracle Tree tea. Cinnamon is a calming spice, and the combo of apple and cinnamon tastes like fall in a cup. The Moringa tea uses moringa, a type of leaf that acts as a superfood containing 3x as much potassium as bananas, 4x as much vitamin A as carrots, and 4x as much calcium as milk. This is also caffeine free, which is why I love to sip on it in the afternoon.

*Get outside. Connecting with nature can so simply bring grounding energy to every part of your body. Go for a walk outside, meditate outside, or stand barefoot for 5 minutes.

*Meditation. This is something that is huge for me. I plan on doing a long post on meditation soon, as I know people have a lot of questions on it. Meditating can quiet your ego and bring your mind back into a place of stillness. The most important thing to remember is that you are going to have thoughts traveling in and out of your mind while meditating, but accepting them without judgment and detaching from them is key! I have a meditation here that you can try, focusing on cultivating love and light.

*Yoga. There are so many videos on YouTube for yoga so you don’t even need to pay for a class. I also recommend just allowing your body to move in whatever way it wants to during your yoga practice. Let your body be moved by feeling, so you can get back into your body and out of your mind. Release judgment, and flow in any way that feels good for YOU.

Hopefully some of these tips help you. It’s so easy to get disconnected from ourselves with the fast paced, hectic world we live in and when we feel stress/ anxiety. But when we allow ourselves to ground back down and ground back into ourselves, we are taking ourselves back into the present moment which to me, is such a beautiful and important thing.
